All Die be Die; Incitements and Exhortations

So Nana Akuffo Addo, in his desperation to court political affection to aid his bid for the presidency chooses to say among other things, at a party gathering that the NDC thinks or believes, that they Akans are weak, therefore the NPP supporters should stand up and fight any form of intimidation from the NDC in the 2012 elections; after all, all die be die.

Then Akuffo Addo’s campaign director, Boakye Agyarko, decides to give us a lecture in syntax and semantics this afternoon. He tries uselessly to convince us that Nana Addo was exhorting his supporters and not inciting them to violence. He must have left his brain at home

My beef? You see, when politicians choose to believe that the electorate is so dumb and cannot do any thinking for themselves, it hurts me. What is the point in making that foolish reference that someone assumes that Akans are weak? What in heaven’s name does he hope to achieve with that allusion? Is he under the illusion that all NPP supporters are Akans? I heard similar comments from certain people from the Volta Region, who also believe that once one is of Ewe descent, one must belong to NDC; to the extent that a very good friend deleted me from his list of friends, as according to him, I’m a disgrace to the Ewe tribe because my write ups criticize the NDC government.

When people think so cheaply and act so stupidly, I’m tempted to say only one prayer; Dear Lord, may both NDC and NPP lose in the 2012 elections. I don’t really care which other party wins though. Amen.

I shall return.
